Jane Austen has spawned more studies, critical books, and learned articles than any other English literary "great" with the exception of Shakespeare. This collection includes source material pertaining to her sense of place and familial and social relationships. Many of these source texts were originally published in small numbers and are now both scarce and valuable. Some of the material was written by Jane Austen's family after her death.
