"Good evening, London." It's nine o'clock and this is The Voice of Fate... It is the Fifth of the Eleventh, Nineteen-Ninety-Seven...

"The people of London are advised that the Brixton and Streatham areas are quarantine zones as of today. It is suggested that these areas be avoided for reasons of health and safety...

Police raided seventeen homes in the Birmingham area early this morning, uncovering what is believed to be a major terrorist ring. Twenty people, either of them women, are currently in detention awaiting trial...

The weather will be fine until 12:07 A.M. when a shower will commence, lasting until 1:30 A.M...

Have a pleasant evening."

A frightening and powerful tale of the loss of freedom and identity in a chillingly believable totalitarian world, V for Vendetta stands as one of the highest achievements of the comics medium and a defining work for creators Alan Moore and David Lloyd.

Set in an imagined future England that has given itself over to fascism, this groundbreaking story captures both the suffocating nature of life in an authoritarian police state and the redemptive power of the human spirit which rebels against it. Crafted with sterling clarity and intelligence, V for Vendetta brings an unequaled depth of characterization and verisimilitude to its unflinching account of oppression and resistance.

"Remember, remember the fifth of November..."

  • V for Vendetta by Alan Moore

V for Vendetta is, like its author's later Watchmen, a landmark in comic-book writing. Alan Moore has led the field in intelligent, politically astute (if slightly paranoid), complex adult comic-book writing since the early 1980s. He began Vendetta b ... (read full critics)

The story is pretty impressive, I liked the idea of a hero with a schizophrenic personality who kills without compassion and fights against a totalitarian regime.

The man "V" being a killer and an anarchist seems to be an intellectual as well. This idea is beautiful in itself because it shows the two faces of the coin.

This story is a bit different than the one shown in the film, and in my opinion it's better.

My advise is: read it and think about it, you'll find a lot under the main story.

    England Prevails

"The people stand within the ruins of a society, a jail intended to outlive them all. The door is open, they can leave, or fall instead to squabbling and thence new slaveries.
The choice is theirs, as ever it must be."

  • There aren't many cheeky, cheery characters in "V for Vendetta" either; and it's for people who don't switch off the News.

  • Remember remember the 5th of November,
    The gunpowder treason and plot,
    I know of no reason
    Why gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot.

Il fumetto, in generale, non è proprio il mio linguaggio. Non sollecita l'immaginazione come un libro e non è immediato come un film.
