Avalon High, I was starting to think, might not be so bad after all.

Maybe it's not where Ellie wants to be, but if you have to start at a new school, Avalon High is typical enough: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy.

But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be . . . not even, as Ellie is about to discover, herself. As a bizarre drama begins to unfold, Ellie has to wonder, what part does she play in all this? Do the coincidences she's piecing together really mean—as in King Arthur's court—that tragedy is fast approaching for her new friends?

Ellie doesn't know if she can do anything to stop the coming trouble. But somehow, she knows she has to try.

Nevertheless I rather enjoyed how Elaine, who keeps on insisting that she is the "practical type", narrates the story with really a matter-of-factly practical tone. Her jokes keep me laughing throughout the book, too.

    Ew.

Maybe I was expecting too much, otherwise I don't really understand what's the matter with Avalon High.

Maybe I was expecting too much, otherwise I don't really understand what's the matter with Avalon High.
At the beginning it wasn't exactly great, OK, but you could read it and even enjoy it. Then it starts to look just like a typical Disney Channel movie. The main character, Ellie, is really boring and Will isn't much better. I even prefer Jennifer or Lance.
But the worst part is the end. I mean, your brother has a gun and your girlfriend has an old sword. And, someway, you manage to get the sword and win.
I don't wanna say anything about the whole "oh, you aren't the lady of Shalott, you are the Lady of the Lake" thing. Great. I was starting to think that it couldn't be worse.
And why does it deserve TWO stars, and not just one? Because of Annapolis ♥

Mainly because it's theme is about one of my favourite historic eras. Medieval. King Arthur! Yeah!
