Un livre superbe

Aujourd'hui, maman est morte. Ou peut-etre hier, je ne sais pas. J'ai reçu un télégramme de l'asile: "Mère décédée. Enterrement demain. Sentiments distingués." Cela ne veut rien dire. C'était peut-etre hier.

Nell'inizio, tutta la storia. L'indifferenza del protagonista alla notizia della morte della madre. In seguito ucciderà un arabo. Verrà condannato apparentemente per questo, ma in realtà sarà il suo atteggiamento indifferente verso la scomparsa della madre (di cui testimonieranno vari personaggi) a farlo condannare a morte.
Ipocrisia dei benpensanti, che se ne fregano del fatto che abbia ucciso un uomo (solo un arabo, in fin dei conti!) ma pronti a condannarlo per il suo dichiarato disamore per la madre.
Un libro superbo.

Mamma mia che libro che è l'Etranger di Camus!! Racconta l'assurdità della vita con una chiarezza disarmante.
Pochi sono gli scrittori che hanno raccontato gli ultimi istanti di vita di un uomo in maniera così forte e toccante; per farsene un'idea, leggere le pagine finali in cui Meursault si scaglia contro il prete confessore vomitando fuori la sua rabbia.
Da leggere e rileggere!

The Stranger by Camus

Bellissimo! Tanta rabbia mi ha fatto il protagonista per come si lascia vivere dagli eventi, per la sua immobilita' psicologica, per quel suo adattarsi senza giudizio alle cose, quanta tristezza mi ha fatto alla fine.

The absurdity of the strangers face -- the way of living the present moments may be incompatible with the way of "They"/the societal expectations. This incompatibility leads to oppression of the masses. Under this overbearing intrusive force, ultimately staring at a death penalty, the stranger makes choices to live his life's finite moments, his thoughts and subsequent action reaffirms his freedom. Some thoughts that cross the stranger's mind on the day just before his death are getting a better insight of how his mother must have felt when she is in a nursing home living her last days of her existence -- eager to find love and looking forward to the evenings of night falls. Some actions might be the stranger's outward and active resistance to the faith of Christianity to get redemption and remain an Anti-Christ and hence not redemptive as the society sees. Writing at this point, one thought crosses my mind from Camus's passage -- does communing the death sentence itself atone the heinous sins? Or, the adoption of a faith the ultimate atonement?
No Soren Kierkegaard's type leap of faith for the Stranger.
