A lot of fun and more relaxed than earlier Peter Carey. Less of the fabulistic than favorites like 'Bliss' and 'Oscar and Lucinda'. This is an excellent heist story combined with a bawdy satire of the 'genius artist descending into hell' portrait ( cf The Horses Mouth). Starts at a perfect cracking ... (continue)
