    Paulo Coelho at its best

    Beguiling. Enthralling. Mesmerizing. Simply magical!

Paul Coelho did it again. He put forth into this world another masterpiece. An alluring and unforgettable story that will speak to all of us who are looking for our soul mates as well as that even more elusive creature: our true self.

I'm not sure I understand why Coelho's books are so popular. Is it because anyone can understand them? Because people feel "they've been there"? Because they're supposed to teach us something?
I may have liked a couple of his previous novels but Brida was not amongst my favourites, to say it mildly.
I disliked the lack of passion and strong mind in the main character. To me she was like a piece of stale bread that you've soaked in a bowl full of water. Bland and yucky!
Now I can only remember one scene when she and some other weirdos have a dance in the forest. Naked. In front of an audience of families and friends.
    What was the author thinking?!

  • enough to keep me going but I liked Veronika Decides to Die and The Alchemist more.
