a must read if one has known 2001 via the original novel or the movie. After its inauguration in 1968,the riddle of the monolith is haunting the minds of our generation for decades. So once the second movie is released, everyone immediately go and see it. It was no less influential than Harry Potter now but only restricted to the academics. The movies is well made. It is historical as it was made before the USSR dismantled.
Surely it needs far less avante garde knowledge of astronomy, but is very heartwarming , shedding tears of many during the time of cold war and before the pulldown of the Berlin Wall.--------the cooperation of USA and USSR, utterly impossible those years.
