主角對友人的評語,點出學者之弊,在於餖飣羅列,全無真見識與真性情:He knew so much, had researched so much. He must have spent weeks on each article. But he had less true knowledge of Africa, less feel of it. (182)鑽研學問鑽進了象牙塔,實在可悲。
