This book starts with a suicide and gradually progresses towards explaining why it happened. The style is of long, rambling sentences and paragraphs but still quite readable. It is an interesting and cleverly constructed book, ruminating on love, memories, secrets and relationships, but in the end I found it to be somewhat hollow - Marias shows us a world of chance and transience, not meaning and transcendence.
