All the other girls at Miss Minchin's school treat Sara as if she truly were a princess. But when Captain Crewe's fortune is sadly lost, Sara's luck changes. Suddenly she is treated no better than a scullery maid. Her own fierce determination to maintain her dignity and remain a princess inside has intrigued and delighted readers for almost a hundred years, even inspiring a recent popular feature film.

    One of those books that teaches young girls the pleasure of reading.
    Gripping from the very beginning, I was absorbed in the disadventures of the young gold-hearted girl who brightnes up the exsistence of her friends by telling marvelous histories, then live the greatest of them herself.
    To be re-read in the most sad moments of life, to remind me that even in darkest time one should always find the strenght to go on.

  • Sicuramente uno dei miei libri preferiti di sempre. Non so quante volte l'ho letto! Il personaggio di Sara è forse il migliore tra quelli creati dall'autrice: una bambina speciale, al confine tra infanzia e adolescenza, sospesa tra i sogni e la durezza della vita reale. Bellissimo.

    I knew the story when I was a child. I still remembered it when i grew up~ A story that teaches people courage.
