Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History of the United States is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of -- and in the words of -- America's women, factory workers, African Americans, Native Americans, working poor, and immigrant laborers.

Covering Christopher Columbus's arrival through President Clinton's first term, A People's History of the United States features insightful analysis of the most important events in our history. Revised, updated, and featuring a new afterword by the author, this is "a brilliant and moving history of the American people" (Library Journal).

The same old story: rich people have a lot, poor people have a little, many rich people work little, a lot of poor people work a lot. That seems unfair. This book shows it one more time, and it is very well written and understandable. I liked it, but I didn't see anything new in it. Maybe I am bored of hearing the same topics over and over again.

  • It was a great source of alternative stories and ideas about those major events and shaping eras in US history.
