    Che cosa c'è di più divertente di un romanzo sull'amore e la vitalità e il potere rivitalizzante dell'Italia (contrapposto al potere raffreddante dell'Inghilterra)? Un libro leggero, non nel senso di inconsistente ma nel senso che scorre e scalda il cuore e fa divertire e tutto è bene quello che finisce bene.

    (Il brano dell'ingresso di Lucy in Piazza della Signoria è stato il testo narrativo che ho tradotto all'esame di ingresso a Scuola Interpreti.)

  • So bittersweetly delightful... Somewhat reminescent of Henry James, but just somewhat. I can't help seeing Lucy as a more constricted Isabel Archer. And that funny (or perhaps not so funny, after all...) notion od the power Italy has of melting some layer of Britishness...

  • The English. Tuscany. Forster can be quite hard to read at times, but this is much more approachable than most of his other novels.

  • Anni fa avevo visto "Camera con vista" di James Ivory è l'avevo trovato bello, ma un po' criptico.
    Quest'estate, dopo aver letto "Maurice", ho deciso di leggere anche "Camera con vista", in inglese perché non mi era parsa una scrittura troppo complessa per me quella di Forster.

    Anni fa avevo visto "Camera con vista" di James Ivory è l'avevo trovato bello, ma un po' criptico.
    Quest'estate, dopo aver letto "Maurice", ho deciso di leggere anche "Camera con vista", in inglese perché non mi era parsa una scrittura troppo complessa per me quella di Forster.
    Ho trovato il libro ironico, romantico, filosofico e con dei personaggi difficili da dimenticare. E allora si sono spiegati i silenzi di George e le espressioni di Lucy che avevo trovato un po' oscuri nel film. Film che ho subito rivisto e trovato comunque sempre splendido (chi meglio della Bonham Carter poteva impersonare Lucy?)
