It's been a while since I've read a book where I actually fall in love with some characters and hate others, this was that kind of book. These characters will stay with me for a long time.

Mariam and Laila were coming from totally different background, and yet their fate and lives were brought together by an unworthy man, somehow protected them from the warlords that came and went. Though their rebellion instinct produced many wretched beating from their husband, the same stubbornness that brought them back to Kabu to rebuild their home.
For me, this was better than Kite Runner. I felt closely connected to both female characters and was amazed by how well Hosseini was able to depict women. The story itself is heartbreaking, yet inspirational. This is one of my all-time favorites.
