My first Robin Cook book. I was disappointed a bit at first as I thought it was a medical thriller and having seen the cover I was expecting it to be like Coma, that film with Michael Douglas in the Seventies (which I only found out is based on a book by Cook). Well, Abduction is not a medical thriller at all. It is a Sci-fi novel that takes you under water to discover what goes on there. And since I'm not a fan of Sci-fi I found this more appropriate for teens than adults, not a credible story, too crazy and with boring and non-elaborate narrative. However, I kept on reading hoping for something to happen and it did! I was totally surprised by the turn of events towards the end. I loved it and enjoyed the effect it had on me as it made me have a totally different opinion of one of the characters.
I'm not sure I'll read any more Robin Cook books but I wouldn't say no if I found one via bookcrossing, for instance. Definitely the kind of book good for escapism I'd take on a long flight.
