Book Description
The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .
Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.
Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.
Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.
War has never been more deadly... or more fun.

This was a great story. While it was a hard to read about the abuse of Acheron's pas,t it was good to finally know what had happened to him. The love between Artemis and Acheron was very beliable and heart wrecking. Both Acheron and Artemis suffered because Artemis was a coward and could not admit to her relationship with him. I could not stop reading until page 428 which is were Acheron's past ended, with the death of Ias(Alexion).
I hate to say it but when the story switched from Acheron's past to his present I lost interest. I could not believe the love story between him and Tory. I could not believe that Acheron could fall inlove with someone so bosy! After all his suffering he needed someone sweet that would replace all the bitterness from his past.
Another thing I did not like in Acheron from the present was how he still allowed Artemis to use him, even though he is the more powerful God. Acheron kept thinking he was not worth anything, he still saw himself as a prostitute. Throughout the last 300 pages he kept saying that Simi and his mother were the only ones that ever loved him unconditionally and that him and Kat were still learning each other. This made me feel he still did not believe his own daughter love. I have never understood how he is so protective of Simi yet he does not do the same for Kat. Kat saved his life and all she ever wanted was to be able to show her father how much she loves him. Yet Acheron gives more of his time to "Spoiled Simi."
I did like how all the former Dark-Hunters and some Were-Hunters helped Acheron save Tory. It was nice to be able to see more of Taby & Val; Talon & Sunshine etc. The first 428 pages were great the last 300 could have been better.

This is the best book in the Dark Hunter series. You finally learn all about Acheron who is so mysteries in all the other novels. The best thing is you really can read it having no idea about the other books, half the book is in the ancient past anyway. Beware prudish people, if you are unfamiliar with the series, it is like the other books in that there is some amazing though moderately graphic sex described. (If you like that, it's soooo worth because the author is very descriptive).
Two books in one. Ash's history and his present. Very hard to read his past.
