I enjoyed reading this book very much.
Altough I didn't like how one of the other parallel storylines ended up, I liked how the lives of various families and individuals intertwined themselves, basically around two people: Natalie and Tom.

I enjoyed reading this book very much.
Altough I didn't like how one of the other parallel storylines ended up, I liked how the lives of various families and individuals intertwined themselves, basically around two people: Natalie and Tom.
I had the feeling their storyline was going to end the way it did, to be honest it was bound to, right?
So since I'm a sucker for happy endings I was all AWWs and giggles throughout the final part till the epilogue kicked in.
From now on this is going to be a little spoilery, 'cause I'm getting a little into detail. Please be warned.

I already stated that there was one thing in particular that I didn't like about the book. And it's how Lucy and Patrick's story ended up being disintegrated.
Lucy cheating on him was really really low of her. Considering her past with Will and how Patrick literally put together her pieces little by little, giving her the family she wanted, I see Lucy as a really cruel human being. I don't think she can be forgiven or granted some justification. Not even the fact that Patrick had been difficult to live with after he lost his job. Witnessing Patrick leaving their house scared that he might not see their children again was honestly painful to read.
Not even the fact that Natalie and Tom ended up together after their original and oddly inspiring alphabet game did good in cheering me up.
I don't know if it's because I'm a bit partial to the 'cheating' issue or for some other reason I can't quite understand just now.
Nonetheless, it was a good read, keeping me company during my hot summer days spent by the sea.

Maybe it was not such a good idea reading Elizabeth Noble' last two books back to back. Although I think this latest one is far better than The Tenko Club, it still does not compare well to The Reading Group. When I fist discovered this new author I thought she was going to be more than just another writer of the 'chick lit' genre! I also completely got the wrong idea from the title thinking Alphabet Weekends were going to be Amsterdam,Brussels,Cophenhagen...etc etc all the way to Zurich. OK they made it to Paris and Vegas (yes Vegas!!)
Having said all that I did enjoy it and will look out for her next book. Beware that is not the recently published The Friendship Test! Apparently this is just the American title for The Tenko Club??
