Tsou's book does not convince me. It is hard to believe that during 1941-50 there was another way out of the New China because the Nationalist regime was controlled by the small group of the CC clique and Song family. If the US give more aid to the Nationalist, there is no guarantee that US can protect Jiang's regime from social revolution of the peasantry. If the US involved into the civil war of China, the situation can be even worse. Rather, look at what happened in Vietnam and Iraq (far after the book)!
