  I would never be able to rate this book. The characters are all extremely disturbing and become more and more annoying as the book progresses. I kept wanting to put the book down because I so disliked the characters. However, the writing style of Bret Easton Ellis captures you to the point that you keep reading the book, even though you think you hate it.

  This book is awesome, if you're the type thinking of shooting up your high school while wearing a black trench coat.   This book is awesome, if you're the type thinking of shooting up your high school while wearing a black trench coat. We all know this one - rich yuppie working in "Murders and Executions" tortures and kills a bunch of people. Some social message buried within the gore and severed limbs, about disassociation with and disregard for human life...I think it was about repression, pressure, stress and the breakdown of ethics, morals and eventually the mind by immersion in the mind-numbing and cutthroat corporate culture of the white collar working world, where the solace of mad salaries fuels a narcotic-like obsession with branded consumer goods and the only release is in the kill...yeah something like that. Just add gratuitious violence.

  This is not an exit? For the very annoying and one-dimensional protaganist maybe, but I sure was glad to exit all the same. One of the few books I've read where even the loathesome movie adaptation was better.

  Just read it . And read it in English .
