    While the dialogue might work in a Hitchhiker's radio play, the motivations are always new and unfamiliar. Most of what happens with Ford, Arthur, Trillian, and Random is not very interesting. Nevertheless the book does have moments of good satire and some parts are not far removed from the sorts of situations Douglas Adams wrote for these characters.

  • Although Colfer is quite funny, it's just not quite like the original Hitchhiker's series books that I had read years ago. It is, however, pretty good on its own merits.

    Started really well, but in the middle the main characters almost disappear and the overall pace of the story loses something. Anyway in the end everything wraps up properly and the book ends leaving a nice smile on your face. It's not a conclusion, but the book itself says nothing begins, and nothing ends. So it's a nice "in the middle"!

    And another thing... After Elvis' appearance in one of the former books, now it's Marylin Monroe's turn... and not in a less bizzarre situation!
