This was a reread. I read the book when I was young. I felt I was meeting an old friend. This book holds a special place in my heart. It was my first "big book" when I was 9. It sparked my love of reading, and for that, I will always cherish the trials and triumphs of the orphan girl who just wanted to be loved.
Some have criticized this book for being overly sentimental. But for those who cannot appreciate the simple charm and captivation of innocent childhood, I have no sympathy. This is a lovely, sweet, enchanting book which every young girl should read.
