    • Sarò ripetitiva, ma ritrovare le avventure del cartone di Miyazaki mi ha fatto fare un tuffo nel passato, non nostalgico, ma reale!!! e poi che allenamento per l'inglese!!!

This book holds a special place in my heart. It was my first "big book" when I was 9. It sparked my love of reading, and for that, I will always cherish the trials and triumphs of the orphan girl who just wanted to be loved.

Some have criticized this book for being overly sentimental. But for those who cannot appreciate the simple charm and captivation of innocent childhood, I have no sympathy. This is a lovely, sweet, enchanting book which every young girl should read.

This was a reread. I read the book when I was young. I felt I was meeting an old friend. While the language snd descriptions from a slower, quieter time of life may frustrate the modern mind, the sentiments and values portrayed by Anne are as valid today as ever - perhaps more so, as we live in an age of selfishness and greed.

    • Ho letto questo libro da piccola (avrò avuto 11 anni più o meno) sulla scia del celebre cartone animato. Ma mi è piaciuto veramente tantissimo!

Book Description

Anne (with an ‘e’ of course)starts out as a mistake. The elderly Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert had planned on adopting a boy to help Matthew with the chores on their Prince Edward Island farm. What are they to do with the red-haired, high-spirited girl who arrives instead?

Anne Shirley, with her boundless imagination and heart, slowly brings joy into the narrow lives of those around her, and into the lives of readers who have delighted in her adventures since Lucy Maud Montgomery began writing about her in 1905.

Anne’s courage, her enthusiasm, and her ability to love, have made her one of literature’s most beloved characters in Canada and around the world.

This beautifully illustrated volume, with a foreword by Kate Macdonald Butler, one of L. M. Montgomery’s grandchildren, is a treasure for those who find in Anne a familiar friend as well as for those who are discovering this “kindred spirit” for the first time.
