    Gombrich以知覺經驗的構造理論,在<藝術與錯覺>一書中,開頭即提問”為何再現藝術有一部歷史?” 歸因於技術的提高和藝術家的渴望,並提出再現藝術是概念性的,乃依據詞彙的熟練操作,在先製作後匹配原則下,由藝術家的選擇而形成(強調心理面)。而非如黑格爾主義者的外部力量(物質)所依重。認為視覺被過去經驗填滿了理論(圖示schema )。根本上是反對風格技巧進化觀點,認為要以經驗學科描述。
