As a dog lover, I cannot refrain from loving this book.

Told by Enzo, a Labrador, "The Art of Racing in the Rain" is the story of Denny Swift, a race driver, and his family which almost fell apart. Enzo the dog stayed with them and gave them whole-hearted support and loyalty through thick and thin.

Readers may sometimes wonder whether Enzo could understand and express such complicated things in the human world, let alone "write" them out. There are many chapters on car racing which are highly technical and professional. However, you will forgive the author for being a little bit carried away when you find out that Enzo is a car racer at heart.

Dogs are humans' best friends and this book proves it. Enzo's love for Denny is complete, absolute and unwavering. I have lost count of how many times the book brought me almost to tears.

Moving and touching, this is a wonderful book that must not be missed.

It's about how one should pursue things that are truly important.

It's about how one should stay on the track that truly leads them to those things.

It's about how to stay cool and focus despite adversary and setbacks.

  • A wonderful, loving and compassionate story told with a fresh perspective from the point of view of a dog.
I personally loved all the great metaphors about racing since I'm a F1 fan and I can tell the author knows his racing!

  • Very good

Told by the beloved family dog---the story is at times heartbreaking, other times hilarious, sometimes both at once. Yes, there are life lessons taught here. Extremely worthy of your time.

  • This is a story told from a dog's point of view. This is a story told from a dog's point of view. It's about a seattlite going through falling in love, getting married, getting a daughter, losing his wife, losing his custody of his daughter, sued for a false accusation... but he kept his hope and kept his eyes on where he's going. The dog Enzo supported him through the ups and downs. It's just a sweet story with some heart-breakers in the middle.
I always like to watch movies that take place in the city I'm in. And this book's story took place in Seattle. It felt like I know what exactly he's going through by heart and by my own eyes. I've been to the Bauhause cafe, I've been to the Seattle court, I've been to the north cascades and coming back on I-90 and I've been to Mercer Island. The last part of the story killed the sense of reality but it still was a story that I feel I can relate to.

  • Would rate a "LOVE it" if I were even mildly interested in car racing, unfortunately I can't tell from Schumacher from Senna, but then the book has so much more than anecdotes on the track and its participants, tender and uplifting "feel good" (after a tear or two) book.
