Assassin's apprentice is a quite enjoyable reading. It is an ordinary fantasy book and it gives you ordinary emotions.

Well-deserved praise.
This book is highly respected on many fantasy web-sites. It deserves the praise it gets due to great characterization and a deep storyline. i liked it quite a lot. it might look like a usual setting (the boy nobody wants raises to be most important for the kingdom and with added magical skills inherited from his bloodline though he's a bastard) but the story catches you and keeps you on the pages.<br />history of the reign is presented, and politics and court intrigues... all is well written of and coherent.</p><p>i think what i like the best is that it is a story well told.
