A bookshop full of good novels you already know and many more waiting to be discoverd.
Such is the uncomplicated dream of this novel’s main characters when they decide to open Au Bon Roman on rue Duypuytrin in the centre of Paris. But who should decide what is good? And what about those novels which don’t make the grade? And how does all this go down with the moguls in the publishing industry? The dream turns out to be more complicated than predicted and it seems to this reader that the very publishing industry which she criticises has obliged the author, Laurance Cossé to introduce the kind of sensationalist page turning plot twists that detract from what might otherwise have been a ‘good novel’.
