grating voice

I now realize this is at least the second time I have tried to get through this book. The voice is whiney, who's voice - the scapegoat - an actual professional scapegoat in a department store who happens to be pretty much in the wrong place at the wrong time - when the bombs go off. One of the top writers in the 80s in France, also wrote a lot of children's books - maybe he should stick with that; But I am a definite minority- most people love him...
