Growing up in far-off India, wealthy young heiress Lady Victoria Arbuthnot was accustomed to handling her own affairs -- not to mention everyone else's. But in her sixteenth year, Vicky is unceremoniously shipped off to London to find a husband. With her usual aplomb, however, Lady Victoria gets herself engaged to the perfect English gentleman, even before setting foot on British soil.

This is the first time that I read the other books, other than the Princess Diaries series, written by Meg Cabot.

Turns out to be a good decision I made at the library, since this book reminds me a lot about my all-time favorite Jane Austen's P

Turns out to be a good decision I made at the library, since this book reminds me a lot about my all-time favorite Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Why, Victoria, just like Elizabeth Bennet, kept holding a grudge against the Mr-Darcy-like captain Carstairs, and thought she fell in love with the ninth earl of Malfrey! The latter turned out to be a rogue, though, attempting to marry Victoria just for her money.
And Victoria's lovely cousin, Becky, was just like Jane who didn't have much idea about her love life.

I don't know whether this book is a tribute by the author to Miss Austen or not, but definitely it's worth reading for an afternoon's leisure. ...Continua
