Incredibili la freschezza e attualità di questo romanzo. Non c’è solo il prototipo dell’americano medio, dell’uomo qualunque Pieno Di Qualità, ci sono i prodromi di tanti modi di pensare non così distanti nel tempo e nei luoghi, con la differenza che Sinclair Lewis ne fa macchiette ironiche e amare ... E’ stata veramente una piacevole scoperta la scrittura di Sinclair Lewis. Tranquilla, scorrevole come un placido fiume, punteggiato però da quello spirito ironico che investe, a mio parere, tutta la figura del protagonista e della società in cui vive.
