One of the very first sci-fi books that I read in my teens and consequently raided all the second hand bookshops in Sydney during my university years just so that I can own the complete series. I would recommend the series if you would like an interesting take on life, death, time and the other Incarnations. Especially good if you have always loved greek mythology.
"Bearing an hourglass" is a little complicated to read and understand due to the particular incarnation written about.
