A Star Wars novel primarily with Princess Leia. I would say this is a novel of unexpected.
Firstly, Force was not in place. The closest you can call is Leia's action in Napkin Bombing. But I would say the napkin was the culprit rather than the force.
Secondly, Princess Leia was the main protagonist. Not many other Star Wars Heroes appeared (well, if you consider C3PO as one). Luke was only mentioned by name. Han was mainly a Holonet character until his sudden appearance to recuse Leia.
Lastly, I did not expect the book to end this way. At least I expected Leia had something to do with Casterfo's arrest!
At the same time, this novel paved the way for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". We knew how and why the First Order and Resistance appeared in the movie. It might even explain why Ben Solo became Kylo Ren and his admiration of Darth Vader.
