Vampires seen from Moore, entertaining and exhilarating as ever.
A novice vampire girl, trying to live is new condition with the help of is weird boyfriend. Fun as usual.
"The vampire let go of Jody's arm, reached across to put his hand on Hair Plugs's shoulder, and
held him fast to his seat. The drunk's eyes went wide. The vampire smiled.
'She'll rip out your throat and drink your blood as you die. Is that what you want?'
Hair Plugs shook his head violently. 'No, I already have an ex-wife.'"
Tommy swallowed hard. 'You're not going to believe me. It's a pretty fantastic story. There's supernatural stuff involved.'
Rivera rubbed his temples. 'Satan told you to do it?' he said wearily.
'I told you, it's supernatural.'
'Tommy, I'm going to tell you something I've never told anyone before. If you repeat it, I'll deny I said it. Five years ago I saw a white owl with a seventy-foot wingspan swoop out of the sky and pluck a demon off a hillside and take off into the sky.'
'I heard that cops get the best drugs,' Tommy said."
Christopher Moore goes beyond the cliches of the typical humor and twists seen in most vampire books. The interesting lines keep the book from being too serious and a quick read.
