"Richard was an alpha werewolf. It was his only serious flaw. We'd broken up after I'd seen him eat somebody." Still, you never forget your ex-fiancé. And when Richard calls Anita Blake at three in the morning, she knows it won't be good news. It seems Richard had gotten himself thrown in jail on a rape charge. Well, I read some opinions here and there, pro and against AB's stuff. I agree with those saying we're not into Gothic literature, into the real thing; when I think of it my mind goes out to other authors and novels, such as Stoker's or Le Fanu's and the like. But... I don't think of AB's saga is crap. I mean, if you take it for what it is - preternatural action novels with some romance - and enjoy the pure entertainment, it works. At least it works for me. I hated so much reading "Twilight" but I do like AB shooting and fucking around and about. I don't feel stupid or ignorant or naive or diminished: I am just having fun. Maybe I am too old to read of Bella and Edward's hormones colliding, actually I do prefer some rough sex scenes, if I have to.
So far it's not disturbing and not the main dish, so I keep reading the saga and tasting every bit of it. Yummy ;-)

  • This is THE best book in the Anita Blake series so far! Fast paced, exciting, and extremely hard to put down. I am definitely addicted to this series. I can't recommend it enough if you like vampire/fantasy based fiction. This series is even better than the Sookie Stackhouse books in my opinion. Wow ... (continue)
