About the Author
Pater Moss hes made Hong Kong his home since 1965. He was here for the spillover of the Cultural Revolution in 1967, while the return of the former British colony to China in 1997 marked the third imperial retreat to which he bore witness-the others being India in 1947 and Malaya in 1957. Aside from his novel The Singing Tree, his published works include: Hong Kong Handover, Hong Kong Style, Skylines: Hong Kong, Passing Shadows, The Long March Back, The Colour of Asia, The Imperiled Utopia: Lijiang, Bye-Bye Blackbird, Distant Archipelagos.
The latter are the first two volumes of an eventual triptych autobiography recounting his years in India, Malaya and Hong Kong.
