I'd give it a mixed review. Obviously some of the stories are significantly better than others, particularly "The Winter Market," "Dogfight," and "Hinterlands." "Johnny Mnemonic" wasn't bad, but it's stories like "New Rose Hotel" when I really notice what seems to me to be Gibson's main problem--at the same time that cyberpunk calls for intense technological knowledge, he includes too many gadgets, too much commonly obscure technological references that he writes only for an in-crowd, narrowing the scope of his stories down so much that the gem in the middle of it all, the literary ideas and feelings are near-impossible for the average reader, and often even the exceptional reader, to find in the midst of his dizzying display of technical understanding.
