  • Very poor novel, the least interesting of its author

I was quite bored most of the time with this novel... a gay author trying to be mainstream ... and failing. He was so good with his three first novels, where has all that talent gone? Only at the end, maybe the las thirty or twenty pages, the novel rises above boredom and gets somewhere interesting... but by that time I just wanted to finish it and move on. Very disappointing indeed.

Well, a couple on his forties finds -finally!- out that love should never be based on the image each one has of the other, but on the true other.
    Wow, what an epiphany.
No doubt they're both unhappy with their love and no doubt they're also unhappy with their lives, as it seems they've been imagining them too, depicting them with such bright particulars they truly never had.
I don't know if the story may have brought somewhere, but in fact, at least to me, it doesn't. They -the three of them, as there's a third too, as in all worst sordid love stories- do not learn, and they do not peacefully surrender either.
And what the book left me, despite being probably quite well-written etc, is just, well, nothing.
    ***

  • Quite a good reading...

The kind of book I love. Easy going, good novel....but plenty of ways to make you think about your life..... how it is, how it should be, how it could be.....
