Maybe because Cradle of Filth's Midian many years ago pictured the nightbreed so in-an-english/european way, this book let me down hard. I'm not mother language and this is practically thre first book I read in english... in the beginning I loved it very much. But then, it just took the wrong turn, IMO. No poetry, no macabre love, no satanic sweetness... just storytelling with no description, fucking and a stupid non-mythology based only on mr Baphomet, the one who no-one can look in the eye to but Cabal (which second baptism is ridicolous). I also watched the movie, I was curious... and I understand the atmosphere the book didn't explained at all: it's an 80s zombie story! I'm sorry, I prefer Dani Filth's point of view.
