'Is this the back broken at last of Winter?' With this question begins a series of blogs posted from the Devonshire town of Bradninch. From March 2010 to 2011 the author seeks to capture the sights and sounds of his locality as conveyed against ...
the wider backdrop of the world at large. His observations are informed with a perspective that is at once poetical, spiritual, and critical. What occurrs in his immediate environment serves as a metaphor, illustration or symbol of events, both in the liturgical calendar and in the march of history as it unfolds week by week. A genuine celebration of nature, this work has about it a meditational quality inviting repeated perusal and reflection. Although the hard, sometimes brutal truths of life are not ignored they are held in tandem with an outlook on life that is hopeful and positive. The result is that this collection of 52 glimpses of Devon seeks not only to entertain but also to uplift and inspire through its adherence to a purposeful and redemptive vision.
