My master thesis relies on this book very much. And I recommend that anyone who wants to know the theoretical relationship between Schmitt and Strauss needs to have this book.
It is very interesting for me to know there is some connection between Cassirer, Schmitt, and Strauss from this book. When Strauss was applying the program of the study about Hobbes, he asked two persons to write the recommendation. One was Schmitt and the other was Cassirer. It's so funny. I haven't read any article on Cassirer and Schmitt. The most famous discussion on Cassirer was the dabate with Heidegger. I think there may be some new aspects on Cassirer from Schmitt's theory. However it's just thinking not very sure.
Back to the topic. It's not very easy for Chinese world to understand the main argumentations in Meier's book. Because of the different "theological " traditions, we need to have some background about Catholicism and the debate between political philosophy and theology. In the Chinese scholar circle the theology is not a very wide-known field and I believe that's the main reason why the important book can't motivate the wide discussion. Just having a glance at the article about the constitutional theory will get the proof.
