SO, I'd read all the Bonds as a teen-ager, so looked forward to reading this modern update. WELL - the book is fun and not without humour. Using the films as a guide, the Bond here is no Connery (not misogynist enough), no Brosnan (not jokey enough) and CERTAINLY not Craig (not VIOLENT enough). He's nearer to Timothy Dalton's effort, I believe.
I enjoyed the book, which for the genre is fine. It is disorientating though - this is a Bond born in the '70s (when I was in my teens). No memory of the Cold War or SPECTRE or the triple-nippled Scaramanga. A new Bond essentially. It does feel weird....Continua
