Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry.

I was completely unprepared. You would think that after all the hours I'd spent with Gale—watching him talk and laugh and frown — that I would know all there was to know about his lips. But I hadn't imagined how warm they would feel pressed against my own. Or how those hands, which could set the most intricate of snares, could as easily entrap me. I think I made some sort of noise in the back of my throat, and I vaguely remember my fingers, curled tightly closed, resting on his chest. Then he let go and said, “I had to do that. I was so obsessed with this book I had to take him out to dinner and hide it under the edge of the table so I wouldn't have to stop reading. The story kept me un for several nights in a row, because even after I have finished, I jast lay in bed wide awake thinking about it... Brillantly plotted and perfectly placed; The Hunger Games is amazing! Voto: 10

I liked how interesting the Quarter Quell was and past victors like Johanna and Finnick. It shows how different the games were from its previous one and at the same time how cruel the Capitol can get after its previous game.

Not bad

A bit slow to to start off - but a real page turner for the second half. Left so you have to buy the next one!

Who-a! What a blast!
Fast paced, full of adventure, heart-searing with suspense and unexpected events, with a gut twisting ending that will make me pick up the third volume the moment I get home!

Squeal. I read it to finish the story. Good plot still but the twists are getting more predictable (hint: it usually happens before a chapter ends)
