One of the best authors for children (and not only, in my opinion) ever.
I think this is one of his best works because of its impressive use of fancy with a bit of mystery too.
I enjoyed also Tim Burton's version of it.

This lovely book is really anticonformist and surprising, in spite of the Dickensian beginning. A good though simple lesson's provided by Dahl's masterpiece: always behave properly, never be bossy, rude or greedy, otherwise you may face serious unpleasant (yet fair) consequences! I particularly appreciate the idea that spoiled children are not fully responsible for their behaviour, which is the result of parental bad education.
Apart from the "moral" implications, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory definitely gives shape to chocaholics' most extreme fantasies (personally, I'd love to get a pillow made from marshmallow! :P).

I've read this book because of the example of poverty and of the power of dreams the author, Roal Dahl, gives to the reader. During the story Charlie managed to enter into the Chocolate Factory of Willy Wonka, demonstrating that in life dreams still come true, even if you have no chance. At the end of the story, Charlie becomes the owner of the factory, chosen by Willy Wonka due to his human values, like humility.

  • One of the best stories I have read

Loved it the first time I read it when I was a child. Loved the movie when I saw it on TV when I was a child. Loved the second movie because I was no longer a child and I love Johny Deep. And loved the book in English when I read it this last time because it is almost exactly as I remembered.
