  Fell flat

  Before I start critiquing, I want to say that I enjoyed this book. I was pretty much glued to it for a day, so it is a page turner. I did have problems with it that prevent me from giving it a higher rating though.

  Before I start critiquing, I want to say that I enjoyed this book. I was pretty much glued to it for a day, so it is a page turner. I did have problems with it that prevent me from giving it a higher rating though.

  Clare was very repetitive, which I partly attribute to bad editing. I got very annoyed with Clary and Jace because of it. One scene of over angsty declarations of love would have been quite enough, but I lost count of how many were actually in this book. It was hard to believe that a month was enough time for them to fall madly in love with each other. It seemed more like physical attraction to me.

  I started disliking Clary's character more than ever because of her rash decisions. She always got herself into trouble and had to be rescued. It's a problem when the main characters of your story are annoying. The weird love entanglements, particularly with Simon, were just out of place.

  The previous two books had a surprise factor, but I saw the "twist" coming far in advance. Clare's clues were too obvious and the ending was predictable. But what really ticked me off was one particular death that was absolutely unnecessary. It made me angry that Clare chose this person to die when she could have easily picked someone else less like-able.

  I don't know if I'm being too hard on this book. I guess I expected more and it's frustrating because it could have been great with some changes. Happy endings are good, but this one was too fairy tale. A touch of tragedy would have improved it. I may not agree with Clare's choices, but parts of the story were great and that redeemed it a bit for me.

  Did you ever wake up from a wonderful dream, feeling sad it was actually just a dream and nothing more? Everything while you're still sleeping it's just so perfect and you feel so happy inside. And then, in a blink of an eye that sensation is gone, and all that's left is your regret for something it will never come back.
  This is exactly how I felt reading this book. I was filled with such a great feeling and couldn't wait to reach the end, but in fact I ended up regretting having read so fast, while not having already the fourth book here in my hands.
  The story is exciting and never boring, and it looks like the author still has plenty of new and original ideas. Would anyone have guessed it seeing that the saga has alredy reached its forth chapter??

  Vi è mai capitato di svegliarvi da un sogno meraviglioso, sentendovi tristi nel realizzare che si tratta in realtà solo di un sogno e nient'altro? Mentre dormi è tutto così perfetto, e sei così felice; poi in un secondo, quella sensazione scompare e tutto ciò che resta è il rimpianto per qualcosa che non tornerà più, non sarà mai uguale.
  E' esattamente ciò che ho provato leggendo questo libro. Le sensazioni che sentivo mentre sfogliavo le pagine erano così intense e piacevoli, che non vedevo l'ora di arrivare alla fine. Ma ho finito soltanto per rimpiangere di non aver saputo aspettare, di aver letto così velocemente, di aver letteralmente divorato una pagina dopo l'altra, senza avere la possibilità di conoscere il seguito della storia, senza avere il quarto volume qui tra le mie mani.
  La trama è entusiasmante senza mai annoiare. Sembra che l'autrice sia una continua esplosione di nuove e originali idee. Chi mai l'avrebbe detto, visto che la saga ha già raggiunto il suo quarto capitolo?

  It's an epic conclusion and I couldn't ask for a better ending.
