One in a series of Inspector Chen mysteries all based in Shanghai. In fact, the books are less mysteries then they are insights into a changing China, Chinese literature and authors. Lots of fun!

An improvement on the first Inspector Chen novel. Though it is not an outright detective mystery, it is very solid as a novel. Very well written too.
