Constance Garrett was a horrible translator. It's a shame to ruin such a great novel by reading such an awful translation from Garrett. Although many say that this is a "depressing" book, I found it very enjoyable to read and has many moments of (bitter) comicality. It was a challenge to read this in a language other than my first one, but I enjoyed it nevertheless!

A well dissection of criminal's mind

It's a heavy and dark novel about a troubled mind. Even though the society depicted in this book is ancient and outdated, the dedication of main female characters in this book are still touched.

Crime and punishment

Read on a train in the bleak winter with snow outside, which I felt suited the mood of the book perfectly! Very well written, very interesting. Enjoyed it.
