Couldn't stop reading this story - beautifully written and learnt loads - amazing
This book is up there with the best audio books I have enjoyed. I enjoyed the descriptions of Ethiopian culture. It's a book that showed the importance of family...all in all highly recommended.
I have mixed feelings for this book. The parts describing the love between the adopted twins and their parents are really touching; intertwining between the fate of Marion, Shiva and Genet and historical events of Ethiopia is so great; but the relationship between Marion and Genet and the death of Shiva in the last part is a little distracting. I don't like the reunion between Marion, Tsiage and Genet in New York, which is not that necessary for me. It is too schemed to be fit into previous narrative parts and the emotional ending. A Wonderful book! Although the story moves over a broad period of time, in only a little over 500 pages, the characters are richly conceived and imagined. The complexities of personalities and open and secret knowledge, make this story compelling. I will read more of this author's work, and recommend it to others....Continua
