I think either the hype from the television series & book or the high expectation from reading the Night Huntress series may have clouded my opinion on this book. It was entertaining and the main character did have some quite human/real reactions to events. I will read the next book in the series to give this one a benefit of the doubt. Sookie is a delightful character. I just wish there was a bit more supporting character building as far as their background story. But with any series, writers tend to get better as the progress.
