This is the meeting of ten very different women that are taking some kind of group therapy that involves telling the story of their lives to nine fellow patients. Sometimes the voices are fascinating and other times they are merely boring, but the book as a whole has an interesting voice, and the ultimate message that a woman is a woman no matter her social status or her appearance. I think that the writer tried to convey the message that we the readers could listen with our feminine ears and dismiss any other differences. It was a noble intention, and the book probably accomplishes it.
