Sarah Long describes english idiosyncrasies with some insight, and that part of the book is not unpleasant, although she criticizes a few traits I would feel like praising instead - the fact that the English care for the environment and love animals for example.
But only the English could take the stereotypical, caricatural, superficial, insufferable (and fictionary btw) Hortense de Montplaisir seriously and believe at her vision of France.
