I was very tempted to give this a 5 star rating. I thought the villian was excellent, the "doggy-voice" segments were spot-on (the dog was NOT a golden retriever - yay) and I especially enjoyed the entire sci-fi aspect of the "paused-time" sequence. I was very tempted to give this a 5 star rating. I thought the villian was excellent, the "doggy-voice" segments were spot-on (the dog was NOT a golden retriever - yay) and I especially enjoyed the entire sci-fi aspect of the "paused-time" sequence. The only thing that took a bit away from my total enjoyment of this story was that the protagonist seemed to have too much insight into the antagonist's nature too early in the tale.
