Very interesting and very good, strong writing.
Eye-opening, and with much to say, not just about 'race and inheritance', as the subtitle says - but about rural v. urban and westernized v. non-westernized cultural patterns. As humans, we all at some point must both make our own mark within the shadow of a significant parental figure, and learn to individuate ourselves from that figure. This was a thought provoking work.

This is a truly insightful book into the life and experiences of Sen. Barack Obama. Anyone and everyone- Democrat or Republican; Black, White, Hispanic, etc.; EVERYONE should read this book.
It is an amazing story, and truly insightful into the mind of a very intelligent and intriguing multi-racial individual. It helped me not only understand who Sen. Obama is...but it helped me to better understand myself, and find a way to relate to him and his life through my own life experiences as a multi-racial individual.
Not very far into it but I managed to fall asleep while reading it at work and drooled all over my desk. Not necessarily saying anything bad about the book, just saying.. that's my experience so far :)

ETA - I just couldn't get into this one. So much boringness that I couldn't handle. I didn't get all that far into it though so maybe all the really important stuff was towards the end.

I don't know why any of my friends would think I would like this book. I hate anything written by political people. The books are generally tripe with a few well chosen historical quotes, stolen from venerable sources.

While I find Obama to be quite eloquent when speaking, the book was edited in a bad way. Although I understand the principle of what he was attempting to communicate, I feel the "PC" police pixied the spirit out of what should have been a good book. Yeah for the editors *sarcasm*.
